๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ The Department of Agricultureโs Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (DA-MIADP) presented the results of the baseline study conducted by the Sustainable Development Solutions Corp. (SDS) for the three pilot Ancestral Domains (ADs) on February 11, 2025. The event took place at the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC) in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

The event was hosted by the DA-MIADP Regional Project Coordination Office 10 (RPCO-10), led by DA-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO X) Regional Executive Director (RED) Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan. It served as a platform to present key findings from the baseline study and discuss their implications for project implementation.
Participants included RPCOs from Regions 9, 10, and 11, as well as the Local Project Management and Implementing Units (LPMIUs) of Davao del Norte, Malaybalay City, and Zamboanga del Norte. Representatives from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) of Regions 9, 10, and 11 also attended, along with the DA-MIADP Project Support Office (PSO), led by Deputy Project Director (DPD) Cristy Cecilia T. Polido.
RED Pacamalan welcomed the participants of the activity and highlighted DA-MIADP RPCO-10โs strategies, particularly the digitization and frontloading of DA programs towards the communities. He emphasized that the baseline study serves as the benchmark to assess whether the project achieves its objectives come endline evaluation.
Dr. Nelson Faustino, Project Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (PMEU) Head of PSO, provided the overview of the study, highlighting its use of scientific tools. The collected data will be used to establish benchmarks for future impact evaluations of MIADP.
The SDS Corp. was contracted by DA-MIADP to conduct the baseline survey, which included training enumerators, field supervisors, research associates, and data processing staff in May 2024. The actual survey activities commenced in June 2024. Leading the presentation of the results was Team Leader Mr. Virgilio Cabezon, who facilitated the discussion of findings for the Lintangan-Subanon Ancestral Domain in Region 9, the Daraghuyan Ancestral Domain in Region 10, and the Ata-Manobo Ancestral Domain in Region 11.

Among the surveyed ADs, the Daraghuyan AD of Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, was recognized as one of DA-MIADP RPCO 10โs partners and the projectโs model AD. The survey identified key areas for development, particularly in improving access to potable water and upgrading road infrastructure. Addressing these needs will enhance health conditions, stimulate economic activities, and strengthen community connectivity, ultimately improving the quality of life for Indigenous Peoples (IP) residents.

NCIP Zamboanga City representative, Engr. Merilyn Assaali, expressed her gratitude for DA-MIADPโs initiatives and commended the participants for their engagement. Likewise, LPMIU Zamboanga del Norte representative, Engr. Marvin Pangilinan, conveyed his appreciation that an AD under their jurisdiction is benefiting from the project.
DPD Polido concluded, โWe have learned a lot from the ADs that we are working on today. We are thankful to our partners from the SDS and the RPCOs for gathering these relevant information which takes commitment to reach even the remote households who were given the chance to voice out their concerns under MIADP. This is very important as it is geared towards improving the communities.โ
