Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur – On March 4, 2025, a crucial step in advancing infrastructure development for the Indigenous communities of Dumingag took place as the Department of Agriculture’s MIADP RPCO IX Component 2 (AD-Infrastructure) led a site validation in the Ancestral Domain of Dumingag.

The validation, conducted in collaboration with engineers from the Local Project Management Implementing Unit (LPMIU) of Zamboanga del Sur, Local Government Unit (LGU) personnel of Dumingag, and the Indigenous Political Structure (IPS) of the Ancestral Domain, focused on assessing the feasibility of two key subprojects: the proposed Potable Water System in Barangay Canibongan and the proposed Storage Warehouse in Barangay Bag-ong Valencia.

The initiative aims to ensure that the proposed infrastructure projects align with DA-MIADP’s technical standards and criteria while adhering to the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF). By doing so, the validation process plays a vital role in securing sustainable and culturally sensitive development that benefits the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) of Dumingag.

Stakeholders carefully examined the project sites, evaluating terrain conditions, accessibility, and environmental considerations. This assessment serves as a foundation for decision-making regarding the viability and potential adjustments needed to successfully implement these subprojects.

Through collaborative efforts, these projects are expected to contribute significantly to the economic growth and well-being of the Indigenous Peoples residing in the Ancestral Domain of Dumingag. As the review progresses, stakeholders remain optimistic that the infrastructure subprojects will pass the required evaluations, paving the way for their approval and implementation soon.
