VALENCIA CITY, BUKIDNON — The Department of Agriculture – Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project Regional Project Coordination Office 10 (DA-MIADP RPCO 10) held a consultation meeting with the Local Project Management and Implementation Unit (LPMIU) of Valencia City, along with a drone mapping activity from March 19 to 21, 2025. This initiative aimed to advance the formulation of the Ancestral Domain Agricultural Implementation Framework (ADAIF) of the Bukidnon indigenous cultural community/indigenous peoples (ICC/IPs) of the Council of Elders of the Bukidnon Tribal Association Ancestral Domain (CEBUKTA AD) by ensuring accurate data are accumulated for agricultural development.

The DA-MIADP RPCO 10 team, coordinated by Component 1 AD Planning and Social Preparation Officer (PSPO) Decejane Pulgo, brought together key stakeholders from the Valencia City Planning and Development Office, led by Engr. Marlino M. Guerrero, and CEBUKTA AD representative Datu Macario Loking.
The consultation meeting provided updates on DA-MIADP’s activities, addressing challenges, and sought stakeholders’ assistance in gathering data essential for formulating the ADAIF for CEBUKTA AD. This framework is a critical part of MIADP’s commitment to integrating indigenous knowledge and practices into agricultural development, while also considering environmental and social safeguards to promote sustainable and responsible agriculture.
Following the consultation, the DA-MIADP team proceeded to Barangay Lourdes to begin data gathering and drone mapping, led by GIS Officer Kim Testa. Drone mapping plays a vital role in data collection, generating detailed 2D and 3D maps that help delineate areas for proposed subprojects and identify existing commodities within CEBUKTA AD.

Approximately 257.298 hectares were successfully covered, with 193.3 hectares classified as arable land. The predominant commodities identified in the mapped areas were cassava, corn, high value crops and abaca, underscoring the agricultural potential of the AD.

DA-MIADP RPCO 10’s partnership with the LPMIU Valencia and CEBUKTA AD, combined with the use of advanced drone mapping technology, highlights the project’s commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive agricultural development. This initiative marks a significant step toward achieving DA-MIADP’s goal of improving the lives and livelihoods of the partner Bukidnon ICC/IPs.
