Davao City – In a historic milestone for the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in Mindanao, the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP) hosted its inaugural general assembly at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City on November 8, 2023.
This groundbreaking event, combining both in-person and virtual participation, gathered together key stakeholders of MIADP, hailing from the Project Support Office (PSO) and the Regional Project Coordination Offices spanning Regions 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The general assembly, a pivotal component in MIADP’s grand launching, was in alignment with the official launch of MIADP on November 6, 2023, in Quezon City. This grand launch coincided with the introduction of other projects under the Department of Agriculture (DA), namely the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up and the Philippine Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency (FishCoRe) Project.
During the assembly in Davao City, Engr. Cristy Cecilia P. Polido, MIADP’s deputy project director, underscored the pivotal role played by the PSO and RPCO personnel in advancing the project’s overarching objective of enhancing agricultural productivity, resilience, and expanding access to markets and services for organized farmer and fisherfolk groups in selected ancestral domains and value chains across Mindanao.
Director Polido further emphasized the necessity of demonstrating the success of the MIADP model, with a vision to extend the project’s reach from Mindanao to the entire Philippines in the future, thereby benefiting even more indigenous communities.
The general assembly saw the presentation of detailed plans and a comprehensive overview of each project component by the respective heads of components and units. This comprehensive briefing served to orient the entire team regarding their roles and responsibilities for the six-year project, fostering unity and understanding within the group. #MIADP
